3 Purple Charoite Small Heart Cabochons/ Backed
13mm x 13mm x 4mm
19 carats (combined weight)
This cute little trio is cut from charoite with pretty clear and white matrix! Would make a great earring and ring or pendant set!
All my cabochons are backed in hard, black epoxy for stability and strength.
If you'd like me to add an eyehook to each cabochon, select the option above.
If you'd like me to make these stones into earrings or a pendant, I can! Click the "Request Custom Order" button above and let me know what you want!

Charoite was named after Yakutia's Chary River, the location in which it was first discovered, circa 1940. Despite its actual discovery first being made sometime during the 1940s, it's considered a relatively new gemstone, as it was not introduced on a commercial level until 1978. Charoite is a rare silicate mineral with a very complex chemical composition of phosphorus, calcium, and sodium. When it comes to appearance, charoite is one of the most distinct gemstones available on the market today. In fact, charoite is often described as being 'unnaturally beautiful', particularly owing to its distinct characteristics. The colors of charoite are indeed unmistakable and can range from light lilac to lavender and from light-violet to medium-deep purple. Most charoite gemstones exhibit several violets to purple shades within a single specimen, and form with very unique patterns, often swirling, streaking or feather-like in appearance. The swirling patterns are considered a signature trait of charoite and are owed to its interlocking complex fibrous crystal structure.
Charoite can also exhibit a slight level of simple chatoyancy, which when combined with its unique color, attractive luster and translucent marbling, has led many people to believe that charoite is lab-grown, synthesized material. It was just too unbelievable in appearance to be thought of as being natural, even though it was. Since its recent introduction to the international gem trade, charoite has become increasingly popular year-after-year.

Yes, I do custom orders! Click on the Custom Order Request link on the home page or in any one of my listings. I'll let you know if I have those stones. I have LOTS of inventory but not all of it is listed so it's very possible that I may already have what you are looking for.
With any custom request, please provide exact dimensions (length, width, thickness and shape). Pictures are encouraged and welcomed as it makes the custom cutting process much easier.
Yes, all my cabochons are american-made. A majority of my stones are mined in the American West--Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, etc. I cut all my stones in my home shop here in sunny Florida.
My stones are very sturdy. They are all backed with a hard black epoxy that increases their strength and stability, but they will crack and break if dropped on a hard surface such as tile or concrete. They are very tough when it comes to setting and bezeling them but don't play catch with them ;)
Yes, I can cut different shapes than those I have listed. Please click the Custom Order Rquest link on the home page or in any listing. Not everything is cuttable although I can generally make it work. I will let you know if I can do it and then give you an estimate on the project. For totally new shapes, there WILL be an additional "lapidary design fee" of $50 on the order. Sketches, drawings or pictures are encouraged. But exact dimensions are a must.
No, I do not do silversmithing. I do no bezel, inlay or solder silver or gold. But I do know many fine silversmiths who would like to help you with your silversmithing needs. Message me and will provide you with some names.
Yes! I have a huge inventory from years of stone cutting. Not all of it is posted in my store. Often I have more than one of the cabochons you are looking for.
Since we are dealing with natural rock they will not be exactly identical in color or matrix, but I can generally get pretty close. I do however have the same shapes in many different, stones colors and sizes.
If I don't have more in stock, I can generally cut what you want but for new cuttings I require a $60 minimum order.
Just click the Custom Order Request link, explain what you want with dimensions, stone type and look and I will give you a price quote.
Yes! I can make any of my stones into a pair of earrings or pendant. All of my shaped cabochons have this as an option for an extra fee.
If you wish to have a standard cabochon (square, oval, triangle, circle, etc.) made into jewelry, you would have to click the Custom Order Request button in the listing. I would then be able to give you a price quote.
Pair of earrings: Additional $25 (2 stones drilled with sterling silver eyehook, bail and french ear wires)
Pendant: Additional $15 (1 stone drilled with sterling silver eyehook and bail)
